PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a quantum dot particle which allows the easy control of a band gap in a surface region, and its manufacturing method, and a solar battery arranged by use of the quantum dot particle.SOLUTION: The quantum dot particle 1 comprises: a core part 3 composed of a semiconductor particle; and a shell part 5 surrounding the core part 3, and including a component of the semiconductor particle and oxygen. The shell part 5 has an oxygen concentration gradient of no more than 10% between the surface A of the shell part 5 and the boundary B with the core part 3 in its thickness direction. The quantum dot particle 1 like this can be obtained by the steps of: preparing a precursor solution by dissolving a metal element and hydrogen peroxide in an aqueous solution including a shell-like protein molecule; preparing a shell-like precursor by precipitating a compound of the metal element and oxygen from the precursor solution onto an inner wall of the shell-like protein molecule; and transferring the shell-like precursor into an aqueous solution including a metal element, and then forming a spherical particle including the metal element as a primary component inside the shell-like precursor. |
