In a moving band filter the band (not shown) is entrained along a tray 10 which is reciprocated along rails by a hydraulic ram, carrying the band forward in a series of steps and returning without it between each step while applying suction to its lower surface. The tray 10 comprises an upper unit of stainless steel or plastics mounted on wheeled carriage 24 of mild steel. The upper unit comprises a shallow box extended laterally by sides 18, 19 and divided into sections with respective flexible suction pipes 23 extending therefrom. Each section is filled with a porous section 22 of knitted, woven or non-woven stainless steel wire or other material on which the band is supported. The box comprises two or three separable and interlocking pieces connected along longitudinal dividing lines. Fig. 3 (not shown) represents a stainless steel box in two pieces. Fig. 4 (not shown) represents a plastics box in three extruded pieces, of which the central piece may be replaced by others of different widths. |
