Producing slabs by melting slag by consum- - able electrodes

Two consumable electrodes are remelted in a cooled ingot-mould and connected in series. They are joined to a monophase transformer secondary winding. Each unit comprises an electrode fixed to the mould which deposits most of the metal in the reloaded slab. At least one mobile electrode maintains and controls remelting. The two electrodes are connected in parallel.
