<p>An embedded unit (3) in a vehicle initiates a session with a wireless device (10) also in the vehicle, and also with an external server or service provider (7), e.g. for navigation instructions. A token having a certain expiry period is periodically generated by the embedded unit and sent to the wireless device, which returns an acknowledgment. If a user wishes to exit the vehicle, the wireless device is carried with the user and, when out of range of the unit, no acknowledgment to the last token will be received. At this point the session with the server is paused, and may either be resumed once the wireless device is returned to the vehicle or transferred to the wireless device when outside the vehicle using a token generated by the server. The session with the server may be initiated by the wireless device, after which the embedded unit may also be allowed to participate.</p> |
