The present invention relates to: a positive electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery which includes a lithium-manganese composite metal oxide particle and a phosphorus (P) coating layer formed on the surface of the lithium-manganese composite metal oxide particle, where the lithium-manganese composite metal oxide particle has a concentration gradient in which the atom% concentration of P atoms is reducing from the surface of the lithium-manganese composite metal oxide particle toward the center of the particle; a production method of the same; and the lithium secondary battery including the same.
