PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection image display device capable of achieving temperature fall of a lamp and improvement of lifetime of the lamp, while preventing luminance of an image from getting low. SOLUTION: A liquid crystal projector 1, which projects and displays an image based on an image signal by projecting light, includes: the lamp 2 emitting light in accordance with supplied power; and a lamp drive 6 for controlling the power supplied to the lamp 2.
