Camera system and method for recording a flow of objects

The system (10) has multiple detection units i.e. cameras (18a, 18b) each having an image sensor and a focusing unit. A control unit sets the focal positions of the cameras in a complementary manner on a simultaneous detection of objects (14) such that as many objects as possible are detected in focus by the cameras. An evaluation unit (32) is provided to compose image data of the cameras to form a common image, where the cameras are arranged next to each other such that detection zones (20a, 20b) partly overlap and cover the width of the objects. An independent claim is also included for a method for detecting a stream of objects.
