<p>The web passes around a series of pref four braking rollers through e.g. a smoothing device and then around a series of pref. four drive rollers, and pref each drive roller and braking roller which are in the same relative posn in their respective series are connected via associated speed reducers to a common differential gear having an input driven by an electric motor so that a differential is maintained between the speeds of the braking and driving rollers to maintain the web under constant tension. A better treatment of the web results.</p> |
