A downhole tubular connector

A hydraulic connector (100) to provide a fluidic connection between a fluid supply (2) and a downhole tubular (4), the connector comprising: a body (115, 142); an engagement assembly comprising an extendable portion (120) selectively extendable from the body, the engagement assembly being configured to extend and retract a seal assembly (160) disposed at a distal end (132) of the extendable portion into and from a proximal end of the downhole tubular; and a valve assembly operable between an open position and a closed position, the valve assembly being configured to: allow a fluid to communicate between the fluid sup ply and the downhole tubular through the seal assembly when m the open position; and prevent fluid communication between the fluid supply wid the downhole tubular when in the closed position. The extendable portion may comprise a first abutment surface (158) disposed to limit the extension of the engagement assembly by contact of the first abutment surface with a corresponding abutment surface (159) of the body. The engagement assembly may comprise a piston (150) disposed about the extendable portion (120) and configured to divide a cylillder (115) defined by the body portion into a first chamber (180) and a second chamber (170). The first chamber (180) may be configured to contain pressurised fluid to retract the extendable portion (120) and the first chamber may be sealed such that it defines a substantially closed system.
