PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an evaporator that will not be broken due to freezing of condensed water.SOLUTION: An evaporator comprises: plural refrigerant pipes 12 having a refrigerant passage and arranged in parallel to each other extending in a vertical direction; plural ventilation passages 13 provided between the plural refrigerant pipes; a cold storage material container 14 housing a cold storage material and arranged on some of the plural ventilation passages; and temperature detection means 18. The evaporator includes a freezing allowing region 19a for allowing freezing of condensed water, and a freezing non-allowing region 19b provided on an upper side of the freezing allowing region and not allowing freezing of the condensed water. The cold storage material container has a small thickness region in which a space between the container and the refrigerant pipes is formed comparatively large in width for promoting exhaust of the condensed water from the space, and a large thickness region positioned on an upper side of the small thickness region. The small thickness region of the cold storage material container is contained in the freezing allowing region, the large thickness region is contained in the freezing non-allowing region, and the temperature detection means is arranged in the freezing allowing region. |
