PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a size property expression accelerator aid accelerating a size effect expression of an alkyl ketene dimer, and to provide an AKD-based sizing agent for paper manufacturing, capable of shortening a time till the size effect expression which is regarded as a problem in conventional AKD-based sizing agents, and expressing size effects in wide paper-making conditions in neutral to acidic region.SOLUTION: A size property expression accelerator aid (A) containing at least one compound selected from a group consisting of (I) a carboxyl group-containing amide compound obtained by reacting (i) divalent or tetravalent polybasic carboxylic acid and (ii-1) primary and/or secondary aliphatic amine having 12 to 22 carbon atoms, (II) a carboxyl group-containing ester compound obtained by reacting (i) divalent or tetravalent polybasic carboxylic acid and (ii-2) aliphatic alcohol having 12 to 22 carbon atoms and (III) salts thereof is simultaneously used with an alkyl ketene dimer-based sizing agent for paper manufacturing. |
