1292926 Pistons; connecting rods REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT and AUTOMOBILES PEUGEOT 14 April 1970 [21 April 1969] 17828/70 Heading F2T The piston 8 of a piston and connecting rod assembly has a cylindrical chamber 9 inclined at an angle 13 greater than the angle 14 of operation for receiving the end of the connecting rod, the chamber having a spherical retaining surface 12 whose radius R2 is greater than the radius R1 of a spherical bearing surface at the bottom of the chamber, the centres of radius O being coincident. The arrangement allows the connecting rod to be inserted into the piston along the axis X and to be retained by the surface 12 when the rod is brought into its operative position. The piston has a lubricating bore 15 and is suitable for hydraulic pumps or motors. Alternatively, the piston could be sintered and impregnated with lubricant for use with hot-gas motors. |
