PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a methacrylic resin-containing liquid composition suitable for recovering a monomer from the methacrylic resin.SOLUTION: A liquid composition is prepared which includes methacrylic resin and an ionic liquid-containing medium as a methacrylic resin-containing liquid composition, and in which the ionic liquid includes a phosphonium cation having at least one aryl group which may have a substituent, and the methacrylic resin is dispersed or dissolved in the medium. The liquid composition is heated to decompose the methacrylic resin to its monomer, thereby affording the monomer as a gaseous substance. This enables more efficient recovery of the monomer from the methacrylic resin.
