<p>Compounds of formula (I) where n is 2,3 or 4; R = H, Cl, NO2; R'=H, Cl, CF3; R2= one to three optional lower alkyl, halogen, -OMe, CF3, cyclic or tertiary amino substituents; R3= H, Me, Cl. Preferred cpds. hav n= 3. Anticonvulsants, antidepressants, analgesics, and psychosedatives. A mixture of 7-chloro-2-oxo-5-phenyl-2,3-dihydrobenzo e -1,4-diazepine (27.1 g) and potassium t-butoxide (12 g) in t-butanol (500 ml) was stirred for 1 hr. then a mixture of 4-fluoro-omega-chloro-butyrophenone (20.1 g) and potassium iodide (15 g) in methyl ethyl ketone (1 litre) which had been boiled for 1 hr. was added. The mixture was refluxed and stirred for 4 hrs., the solvent was evapd. and the residue was treated with CH2Cl2. It was heated to 30 degrees C, filtered hot and the filtrate evaporated to give 7-chloro-1- 4-(4-fluorophenyl)-4-oxobutyl 2-oxo-5-phenyl-2,3-dihy- drobenzo e -1,4-diazepine.</p> |
