PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus and a display device capable of improving the contact position detection accuracy of a display device with an input function.SOLUTION: An image reading apparatus includes: a readout TFT 12 for writing a signal to a readout line formed on an insulating substrate; a precharge TFT 6 for writing a precharge voltage to a detection electrode 7; and an amplification TFT 9 for amplifying a voltage difference of the detection electrode. The precharge TFT 6 is connected to the detection electrode 7 via the amplification TFT 9 and a compensation TFT 13. A coupling pulse line CPL is connected to the amplification TFT 9 via a power supply switching TFT 14. The image reading apparatus detects the presence or absence of contact by applying a voltage of the detection electrode 7 to a coupling pulse line drive waveform via a coupling capacitance.
