PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine start system making it possible to improve responsiveness of engine start to a driver.SOLUTION: In an engine start system including: an engine start switch; an engine start control unit that performs vehicular engine start processing when detecting a manipulation of turning on the engine start switch; and an electric steering lock 1 that locks or unlocks a steering shaft 30 of a vehicle, after the engine start switch is turned on, before unlocking processing of the electric steering lock 1 is completed, the engine start control unit begins engine start processing. Thereafter, if the unlocking processing of the electric steering lock 1 is not completed normally, the engine start control unit performs engine stop processing. |
