PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illumination device that can generate a desired light projection pattern and has a small-sized light projection part.SOLUTION: A head lamp 1 includes a light source part 10, and a multi-mode fiber 20 that guides the emission light or conversion light thereof. The multi-mode fiber 20 includes a light emission end face 20b which emits the emission light or conversion light as illumination light, and the numerical aperture of the light emission end face 20b is set to be a predetermined value or less, so that the projection range of the illumination light is limited.
