<p>The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating obesity or metabolic diseases, wherein the composition contains prunetin or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as an active ingredient. The prunetin or the pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, according to the present invention, can be very effectively used in the prevention or treatment of obesity or metabolic disease by reducing body weight, reducing the amount of fat in the body, reducing the levels of glucose and total cholesterol in blood plasma, reducing the amount of fat deposits inside the body (liver and visceral adipose tissues), and, in particular, reducing the expression of genes involved in fat metabolism and adipogenesis.</p> |
