Water is supplied from a cooling tower (14) to a heat exchanger (24) in the liquid in the lower end of the wet flue gas processor (20) for cooling the liquid in the lower end of the wet flue gas processor (20) to condense water from the flue gas (12) into the liquid in the wet flue gas processor (20). Returning water from the heat exchanger (24) to the cooling tower (14) cools the water and the liquid with the condensed water is supplied from the wet flue gas processor (20) to the cooling tower (14) as make-up water for the cooling tower (14) to reduce or eliminate the need to fresh make-up water.
