Device for treating a moving paper, cardboard or other fibrous web (2), comprises: an applicator unit (1) for applying a liquid to pasty application medium (5) comprising glue, starch or pigment-containing coating color; a coating unit for single-sided or double-sided coating; and a rotating pair of press rolls (3) comprising two mutually extruded elements forming a press nip (6) between them, which passes through the fibrous web. The press nip of the applicator unit is guided in the direction of the moving fibrous web, and supports at least one web guide roller. Device for treating a moving paper, cardboard or other fibrous web (2), comprises: an applicator unit (1) for applying a liquid to pasty application medium (5) comprising glue, starch or pigment-containing coating color; a coating unit for single-sided or double-sided coating; and a rotating pair of press rolls (3) comprising two mutually extruded elements forming a press nip (6) between them, which passes through the fibrous web. The press nip of the applicator unit is guided in the direction of the moving fibrous web, and supports at least one web guide roller which is arranged downstream and the web guide roll is wrapped by a screen or porous strip, preferably drying wire, which guides the fibrous web through to a drying cylinder of an existing post-dryers section.
