The process is particularly useful for coupling two-block polymers of formula A-B 1/2 -Li to form an A-B-A polymer, where A is a styrene orα-methylstyrene polymer block and B is an elastomeric block based on a conjugated diene, e.g. butadiene or isoprene. An example describes the use of phenyl benzoate as the coupling agent for a styrene-butadiene block polymer.
