The vehicles are automatically steered by control of their wheels by the guiding means and there are pairs of pickups which operate the vehicle steering system so that is maintains its central position in the track. The traversal acceleration of each vehicle is measured, and the steering system is controlled on a straight track in the sense of maintaining transversal acceleration at the value zero, and on bends at a value corresponding to the ratio between the square of the vehicle speed and the radius of the bend in the track.
