PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To implement non-discharge complementary processing capable of appropriately coping with both steady defective discharge and sudden defective discharge without being followed by frequent maintenance processing.SOLUTION: First detection processing with high accuracy is performed while being followed by maintenance processing when continuous recording is not being performed, and second detection processing with a little processing load is performed at a predetermined timing without being followed by maintenance processing during the continuous recording. In this case, when the number of defective discharge nozzles, which have been detected by the second detection processing, reaches a predetermined value or more, the maintenance processing is performed, and only information about the defective discharge nozzles, which have been detected by the second detection processing, is reset. |
