A tool (1) for locking and releasing a plug (2) in a hydrocarbon well, and methods for the locking and releasing, wherein the plug (2) has at least one pin element (5), and wherein the tool (1) comprises: - a sleeve (3) having at least one pocket (4) for receiving the plug's (2) pin element (5), - at least one locking element (6) which can be moved between a release position in which the pocket (4) is open, and a locking position in which the pocket (4) is closed. When locking the tool (1) to the plug (2), the tool (1) is moved in the hydrocarbon well to facilitate positioning of the pin element (5) in abutment with the locking element (6), further movement bringing the locking element (6) into an open position for receiving the pin element (5) in the pocket (4), and the locking element (6) is brought into a locking position such that the plug's (2) pin element (5) is locked in the pocket (4). When releasing the tool (1) from the plug (2), fluid means are used for movement of the locking element (6) into a release position for release of the plug's (2) pin element (5) from the pocket (4). |
