PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress erroneous detection of double feeding of print media.SOLUTION: A control unit 6 makes conveyance speed by a registration roller higher than the conveyance speed by a belt conveyance unit 3, to convey one of sheets while forming slack on the sheet between the registration roller and the belt conveyance unit 3 while detecting double feeding of the sheets based on an amount of light received by a light receiving unit 17b. The control unit 6 is responsive to movement of the sheet toward the downstream side of a conveyance path for changing at least either one of a threshold value for detecting double feeding of the sheets based on the amount of the light received by the light receiving unit 17b and an amount of light emitted by the light emitting unit 17a. |
