PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing material for an organic EL display, which is suitable for local heating by irradiation light such as a laser beam and achieves low softening characteristics and high water resistance, and to provide a highly reliable organic EL display.SOLUTION: The sealing material for an organic EL display contains 55-100 vol.% of a bismuth-based glass powder and 0-45 vol.% of a refractory filler powder. The bismuth-based glass powder contains 0.2-15 mass% of CuO+FeOas a glass composition.
