PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a card reader capable of blocking skimming when a user draws a card from a card reader.SOLUTION: A card reader 1 for performing the reading of magnetic data recorded in a card 2 or the recording of the magnetic data in the card 2 includes: a card insertion/ejection section 4 formed with a card insertion/ejection port 3 into/from the card 2 is inserted and ejected; a drawing detection mechanism 19 configured to detect the drawing of the card 2 in a drawable state from the card reader 1 accompanied by the partial projection of the card 2 from the card insertion and ejection port 3 to the outside of the card reader 1; and a resistance application mechanism configured so as to be brought into contact with the card 2 which is drawn from the card reader 1 for giving a frictional resistance to the card 2 to prevent the drawing of the card 2. The resistance application mechanism is configured to, when the start of the drawing of the card 2 in the drawable state is detected by the drawing detection mechanism 19, give a frictional resistance to the card 2 to prevent the drawing of the card 2. |
