PURPOSE:To reduce the evaluation error, by operating and renewing the background value based on the radiant ray measuring output under different pressure, through the change in the gas pressure in the detector chamber. CONSTITUTION:The output side of the pressure regulation valves 14a, 14b is adjusted to different pressures Pa and Pb, the selection valve 13a is opend with the control unit 12 normally and 13b is closed and the measured gas in pressure Pa is fed to the detector chamber 3. Under this pressure, the measurement Ca of the output Sa from the radiant ray detector 1 is obtained. Next, when the unit 12 opens the valve 13b and closes 13b, measured gas in pressure Pb is fed to the chamber 3 and the detector 1 outputs the measurement Ca as the output Sa under the pressure Pb. The operation unit 4 calculates the coefficient of the valve 13b to the valve 13a, and the measured resultant output is outputted by using the net radiant ray value A calculated by the operation unit 12 and the background value B. Thus, the evaluation error is reduced and defective detector can earlier by detected.
