Imaging of terrain 40 is done using a sensor on an unmanned aircraft 2. A range of motion of the sensor, positional information of the terrain and parameter values relating to aircraft manoeuvrability are acquired. Using the acquired information a first procedure is performed whereby the sensor 20 captures a set of images of the terrain 40. The aircraft 2 moves along a first route with respect to the area of terrain 40 and the sensor moving with respect to the aircraft 2 such that each point in the area of terrain 40 is coincident with a footprint 44 of the sensor 20 on the ground 8 for at least some time. Also, every point in the area of terrain 40 is present within at least one of the captured images. A second procedure is then performed on a second route different to the first route to capture a set of images of terrain 40. |
