<p>A locking unit for installation to a window winder assembly; the locking unit provides a child safety lock allowing partial opening; preventing further opening until disengaged. The locking unit comprises a locking spindle and locking member which may be retrofitted to an existing window winder assembly. In a preferred embodiment a locking spindle having a worm gear 300 is connected coaxially with a handle spindle 402 which may require removal of an existing handle 48 prior to installation. An intermediate gear 302 having a protruding blocking element/lug 346 abuts with a pivotal locking member 68 in a predetermined rotational position preventing further opening. Pivoting locking member 68 to an unlocked position the locking member is disengaged from the protruding lug 346 allowing unrestricted full opening of the window. The locking lug 346 may have a tapered rear surface allowing automatic reset of device. Also disclosed in figure 22a is a window restrictor having a spring biased pivotal locking lever 68 with locking protrusion engaging in an indentation 46 in the window actuator/drive arm 24 at a predefined rotational position, released by pushing button 78.</p> |
