PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal processing device capable of improving reading failure of a bar-code due to defect of the bar-code or a way of passing the bar-code over a sensor.SOLUTION: The signal processing device includes: a variable amplifier which outputs a signal corresponding to an input signal as an output signal and is capable of adjusting its offset and gain; comparison means for comparing a level of the output signal with a plurality of thresholds; detection means for detecting either or both of deviation of an offset of the variable amplifier and excess or deficiency of the gain of the variable amplifier on the basis of a result of comparison by the comparison means; and adjustment means for adjusting either or both of the offset and gain of the variable amplifier on the basis of a result of detection by the detection means.
