PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber with high removal efficiency of clad mode light and high mechanical strength.SOLUTION: An optical fiber 100 includes a core 101, and a clad 102 surrounding an outer periphery of the core 101, and the clad 102 is provided with groove parts 104 formed continuously in a circumferential direction of the optical fiber 100. The clad 102 at the groove part 104 has a large diameter part having a first thickness D1 in a radial direction of the optical fiber 100, and a small diameter part having a second thickness D2 smaller than the first thickness D1 in the radial direction. The plurality of large diameter parts are provided in an axial direction of the optical fiber 100, and the plurality of large diameter parts are provided on a straight line roughly parallel to the axial direction of the optical fiber 100. |
