PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery improved in thermal stability in an overcharged state.SOLUTION: A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery provided by the present invention includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode and a heat-resistant layer disposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode. The positive electrode of the secondary battery includes a positive electrode active material having a hollow structure comprising a shell part and a hollow part formed within the shell part. The heat-resistant layer contains plate-like inorganic filler particles as a main component.
