PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent decrease in resolution about directions to alternately and sequentially distribute pixels for a right eye and a left eye relating to a passive system three-dimensional image display.SOLUTION: A retardation layer 14 that imparts a corresponding retardation to exiting light from an image display panel is disposed on a substrate 12 made of a transparent film material. In the retardation layer 14, a first strip region O where a rectangular first region A having a slow axis in a first direction and a rectangular second region B having a slow axis in a second direction different from that of the first region A are sequentially and alternately arranged, and a second strip region E where the first and second regions A and B are sequentially and alternately arranged, are sequentially and alternately arranged in a direction orthogonal to the longitudinal direction of the first strip region O. In the second strip region E, the first and second regions A and B are shifted by 1/2 of the first or second region A or B in the longitudinal direction of the first strip region O with respect to the first strip region O.
