The invention relates to the field of data processing, in particular to a method and a system for updating data. The method comprises the following steps that: a client acquires a working data source file; the client monitors whether the data transmitted by a server contains a data source file of which a file identifier is the same as the file identifier of the working data source file; if so, the client judges whether the data source file is updated; and if so, the client receives the updated data source file and stores the current updated data source file as the latest data source file. In the method, the client monitors whether the data is updated, so that an application module is not required to regularly send an inquiry request to the server to inquire whether the data is updated and complicated maintenance work is avoided; furthermore, the method and the system can be applicable to one-directional environments like data broadcasting and are easy to implement; and by the technical scheme, only the working data source file and the latest data source file are stored, so that the storage space is saved. |
