<p>In the present invention, obtained is a photon detection device and method enabling threshold value detection, in quantum cryptographic communication and the like, of only a photon detection signal S from an electrical signal in which the photon detection signal S and a periodic noise signal N are mixed, without constructing a removal means for the periodic noise signal N. Using a phase shift means (7), only the periodic noise signal N, originating from a drive signal of a photon detection element (1), is subjected to temporal delay, and the electron detection signal S is superimposed at the positive peak position of the periodic noise signal N and accentuated, and thereupon the threshold value is detected.</p> |
