The invention relates to a microscope which comprises a specimen table having a table surface in a table plane at an angle different from zero with respect to an optical axis (Z), wherein a specimen (1) is mounted on the specimen table on a specimen carrier (3). The microscope comprises an excitation beam path (4) over which the specimen (1) is illuminated with excitation light, and a detection beam path (5) over which detection light coming from the specimen (1) is guided onto detection means. An objective (7), through which excitation light is routed in the direction of the specimen carrier (3) and detection light coming from the specimen (1) is routed in the direction of the detection means, is arranged along the optical axis (Z). The microscope further comprises beam splitting means for separating excitation light and detection light, means for generating a light sheet from excitation light and means for illuminating the specimen (1) with said light sheet, wherein the light sheet lies in a plane which encloses an angle different from zero with the optical axis (Z). In such a microscope the means for illuminating the specimen (1) comprise at least one optical deflection means, which is disposed on the specimen carrier (3) and is designed to deflect excitation light coming from the objective (7) by means of at least one optically effective surface into the plane of the light sheet. |
