The housing (21, 41, 51) for fire fighting equipment, such as a reel (15) of a fire fighting hose (14), is disclosed. The housing has a top (23, 43, 53) and a single side wall (44, 54) or a front (22) and two side walls (24, 25). The housing has no back or base and covers the top, front and two sides only of the fire fighting equipment thus leaving the underside of the equipment accessible. Handles (27, 47) enable the housing to be lifted up onto a supporting bracket (18, 19) or mounting plate (32) having a slot (39). Engagement of a downwardly directed lip (29) with the bracket (19) or slot (39) provides a releasable mounting arrangement.
