PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a generator for chlorine dioxide gas which can avoid contamination due mist and solid particles generated in accordance with generation of chlorine dioxide gas.SOLUTION: In a chlorine dioxide gas generator 1 where sodium chlorite (a) in a pellet form and an acidic solution b are supplied into a container 13 and chlorine dioxide gas c is generated by a chemical reaction of both of them, the container 13 is provide in a space 11 enclosed by a shielding body 10. The container 13 is partitioned into a plurality of container portions 20, and the container portions 20 are communicated with each other by openings 22 having a size preventing the passage of the sodium chlorite (a) in a pellet form. A fan filter unit 16 is installed at the top of the space 11, and a clearance 17 for taking air into the space 11 is formed under the shielding body 10.
