The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for transmitting control information in a heterogeneous network system. In the apparatus, a terminal receives a radio resource control (RRC) connection reestablishment including the physical cell ID (PCI) of a target cell accessed by the terminal and cell-related control information on a target cell from the base station of a serving cell which provides a service, and determines whether the target cell instructed by the PCI is a picocell on the basis of the cell-related control information. According to the present invention, in a handover to the picocell, continuous measurement of an intra-frequency picocell or an inter-frequency picocell is not necessary, thereby reducing power consumption. Also, for a proximate instruction operation for the picocell, it can be understood whether the target cell is a picocell, though only a main synchronous sequence and a sub-synchronous sequence are decoded without decoding system information. Accordingly, power consumption is reduced. |
