The present invention relates to a memory system and, more specifically, to a memory system capable of optimizing peak current consumption and a method for operating the same. The memory system comprises a first memory device and a second memory device which have an input terminal for receiving a token signal and an output terminal for transmitting the token signal, respectively, wherein the output terminal of the first memory device is connected to the input terminal of the second memory device, the output terminal of the second memory device is connected to the input terminal of the first memory device, and the first and second memory devices consume a maximum peak current based on information about the size of an available current included in a received token signal. |
