The handset unit (1) has a working tip (5) is arranged at a non-destructive autoclavable handgrip (3), which is accommodated within an electronic control unit. Electrically activatable lighting units are arranged in the working tip and/or the handgrip to generate light. The control unit is fixed at a removable body, which is arranged within the handgrip in an operating position. The removable body is separable together with the control unit from the handgrip and brought again into the operating position. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for cleaning a dental handset unit (2) a method for invasive curing of light-curable material in a dental cavity or on a dental surface in a mouth of a patient.
