PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a reinforcing polyester fiber with high productivity and efficiency, having extremely excellent adhesiveness to a fiber and a matrix in a fiber reinforcement composite material after high-temperature dynamic fatigue.SOLUTION: A method for producing a reinforcing polyester fiber includes an ageing treatment at 40°C or higher with a closed state after attaching an epoxy curing catalyst and an epoxy compound to a polyester fiber having amount of a terminal carboxyl group of 15 equivalent/ton or more. Further, it is preferable that the polyester fiber is in the wound status, the closed state is set by enclosing the polyester fiber with a resin film and the air content per 1 kg of the fiber is less than 5 litres in the closed state. It is also preferable that the epoxy curing catalyst is an amine compound, the polyester fiber is obtained by high speed spinning with 2000 m/minute or faster, and the polyester fiber is a polyethylene terephthalate fiber. |
