PINHOLE ARRAY AND DISPLAY DEVICE USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device which enables a viewer to visually recognize a video image as if it floats in the air.SOLUTION: Two elliptical hemisphere faces in each of which a pinhole is formed at a vertex and an inner side is used as a reflective mirror, are arranged face to face. A light beam entering from the pinhole of one elliptical hemisphere face is reflected twice between the opposing elliptical hemisphere faces and exits from the pinhole on the opposite side at an angle that is plane-symmetrical with respect to the incident angle. A pinhole array (optical sheet) is formed by arranging a plurality of elliptical hemisphere faces facing each other on a plane. A plurality of light beams reflected or emitted from a display object placed on one side of the pinhole array pass through a plurality of pinholes of the pinhole array and forms an image at a plane-symmetrical position on the other side of the pinhole array. Thus, a floating image corresponding to the display object is formed in the air.
