The universal joint has a spider (4) or (5) with a central axial blind hole (18) and four radial arms (6) or (7). Each arm (6,7) has a bore (19) which runs into the central hole (18). The open end of this central hole is provided with a cover (22) so that the hole forms a reservoir for the lubricant. The capacity of this reservoir is sufficient to store enough lubricant to last the lifetime of the joint bearings. A restriction is formed in each of the holes (19) to control the rate of flow of the lubricant when the joint is rotating at high speed. USE - Universal joints lubrication system.
