PURPOSE: An intrinsic account information recovery system and a method thereof are provided to remove the inconvenience of reissuing a new account by recording intrinsic account information read from an optical code in a magnetic stripe when the intrinsic account information is damaged. CONSTITUTION: A self-recognition unit (13) of an ATM (10) recognizes a magnetic stripe (22) of an account (20). When intrinsic account information recorded in the stripe is damaged, a magnetic recorder (15) records the intrinsic account information in the magnetic stripe based on the optical code information. A financial transaction controller (12) of the ATM controls the records of the intrinsic account information about the stripe. A code recognition unit (14a) recognizes an optical code (24) of the account to output optical code information to the financial transaction controller.
