PURPOSE: An electrolyte composition is provided to effectively prevent electronic recombination on the surface of a semiconductor nanoparticle such as TiO2, thereby being capable of increasing energy conversion efficiency of a dye-sensitized solar cell. CONSTITUTION: An electrolyte composition comprises an oxidation/reduction material and a cyclodextrin material. The oxidation/reduction material is selected from iodine-based oxidation/reduction, bromine-based oxidation/reduction material, quinine-based oxidation/reduction material, and combinations thereof. The cyclodextrin material is selected fromα-cyclodextrin,β-cyclodextrin, andγ-cyclodextrin, a derivative thereof, and a combination thereof. A dye-sensitized solar cell comprises a photoelectrode which comprises a photosensitive dye, a counter electrode which faces the photoelectrode, and the electrolyte composition which is located between the photoelectrode and the counter electrode.
