A method and apparatus for seamless playback of content are disclosed. Content is seamlessly playable based on the seamless content providing method comprising: responding to a seamless playback request in a second device; discovering a first device which plays a current content; requesting a property set associated with an asset currently being played to the first device; and receiving the property set sent from the first device. The present invention allows to play content seamlessly between devices via various forms of download or streaming handover in an open content market environment which supports a cross service between different kinds of services and compatible interaction between the devices.
