PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To absorb impact energy transmitted when a force of a specified value or more is applied to a steering wheel at the time of collision by absorbing the impact energy at the time of the collision by shearing of plastic material and contact of a lower part of an upper shaft with an impact absorbing member. SOLUTION: An impact absorbing member 130 is engaged in and fixed to a lower tube 110 in such a way that each projection is engaged in each slot in the lower tube 110 to be projected inward, and an upper shaft 120 and the lower tube 110 are coupled and fixed by plastic material 140 formed in each groove through each through hole 113, 114. When a force of a specified value or more is applied to a steering wheel, the plastic material is sheared, and at the time of this shearing, impact energy applied to the upper shaft 120 is absorbed. In addition, a lower part of the upper shaft 120 gets in contact with a projection 135 in the impact absorbing member 130, and when this is diametrially expanded, the rest of the impact energy is absorbed by the impact absorbing member 130. |
