PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery using a negative electrode active material that has at least one atom selected from the group consisting of an Si atom, an Sn atom and a Pb atom, and having high charge capacity, excellent characteristics over long period of time, and especially excellent discharge-capacity retention rate.SOLUTION: A nonaqueous electrolyte is used in a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery including a negative electrode that includes a negative electrode active material having at least one atom selected from the group consisting of an Si atom, an Sn atom and a Pb atom. The nonaqueous electrolyte at least contains: a carbonate having at least one of an unsaturated bond and/or a halogen atom; and a chain compound having one or more sulfur-containing functional groups represented by the following formula (1). (In the formula (1), m and n each independently represents an integer of 0 or 1, x represents an integer of 1 or 2, and y represents an integer of 0 or more and 2 or less.) |
